I’m writing this on my phone, from a hammock in Costa Rica.
Some of you know me from Invisibilia. Some of you know me from real life.
Some of you got added to this list when I imported all my gmail contacts, my b, I’m pretty sure there’s an unsubscribe link somewhere down below, but also maybe hang around some? if you want.
I’m not really sure what this newsletter is going to be, but I am going to use it as a practice in sharing myself, my work, and stuff I’m interested in, on a consistent basis — every Sunday, for the next year.
Commitment is a word I’ve been contemplating a lot lately. Usually it kind of makes me cringe? Seems compulsory.
But lately I’ve been trying to reconsider it, like maybe it’s less about the infinite unknown of forever and more about sticking with something for an amount of time, opening up to an understanding that expands with depth and nuance. An umami flavor lasts longer than the quick satisfaction of a lollipop.
Plus it’s exposure therapy.
Thanks for joining me on this ride. As always, you are free to leave if it no longer works for you.
Here’s 10 minutes of much-needed rain pouring in Costa Rica that I recorded on my phone. I suggest you put in headphones, curl up, and allow yourself to be lulled to sleep.
You’re consistently an inspiration and a reminder to just do. Thank you for being a beacon light and freedom in my world. I’ll be here every Sunday
