Feathers - I burnt a feather from my altar about a year ago, and spent months with my eyes glued to the grass, searching for any sort of feather to replace the one I lost. Eventually I moved all my things into storage, and no longer had an altar. Then I moved to Costa Rica, and began finding feathers everywhere.
4leaf clover - there is a patch of clover in front of my house, and I thought It’d be fun to find a 4 leaf clover. I held this desire with a playfulness, that it was only a matter of finding it. Eventually, a few weeks of belief later, I found a tiny 4-leafed clover near the foot of my stairs.
Sloths - I keep finding them because I expect the universe to show them to me. It works best with light touch, as per finding the 4-leaf clover. I find whenever I’m “pressed” about finding the sloths, they become harder to find. Lately I’ve been riding around on my scooter, scanning the trees expectantly. I haven’t been that lucky with that strategy. Another time I left my house and simply called out “garry!” and looked up and found a sloth in the tree next to my house, and another a few paces down the road. Playfulness is key.
Parking spot prayer - I bring this out whenever I’m in a car looking for a parking spot. I always ask if I can pray first, as I’m a well-behaved Christian, and then I say “thank you jesus for this parking spot.” And our parking spot is delivered in accordance with our faith and patience.
The other day I was walking in a national park, when my friend came across a tiny sea turtle in the path. I couldn’t believe it, shocked to find something so small and valuable, by itself. I discouraged my friend from interfering with the turtle’s destiny, but he picked it up anyway, proving that it was alive, and moved it out of the path, towards the sea. The tiny turtle kicked a few, then stopped in a sunny patch. Now invested, I carried it closer to the ocean shoreline, and we watched it paddle around the rocky shore, and into the deep. I named it theo.
